OUR COMMUNITY

Temple Emanu-El is located in southeastern Alabama, in the heart of the Wiregrass, a unique area covering parts of southern Georgia, southern Alabama, and the Florida panhandle.

“Wiregrass” is the colloquial name for the native grass, Aristida stricta.

Dothan, Alabama is situated approximately 20 miles west of the Georgia state line and 16 miles north of the Florida panhandle. It is the seat of Houston County, with portions extending into nearby Dale County and Henry County.

 

OUR TOWN

Dothan is proud to support two major medical centers, multiple institutions of higher learning, a host of city parks and recreation areas, the Dothan Opera House, the George Washington Carver Interpretive Museum, the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens, the Wiregrass Museum of Art, and much more.

Dothan is an easy drive to many regional destinations, including Fort Novosel, Enterprise, the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM), the Tuskegee Airmen Museum, the Florida Panhandle, and Troy University. Dothan is a just a thirty minute flight to Atlanta.

Temple Emanu-El is an active member of the Dothan Chamber of Commerce.
