The Edward F. Rudderman Religious School

Temple Emanu-El enjoys a vibrant and inclusive Religious School
with students aged from toddler through B'nei Mitzvah.

Our smaller class sizes provide favorable learning environments for students and flexibilty for instructors, as lessons are often adapted
to best fit the needs of the class. One-on-one Hebrew instruction is available upon need or request.

Religious School is available to all Temple members. Please contact
our office at (334) 792-5001 for details about how to enroll in
Religious School.

The Religious School is led by Director Jeffrey B. Willens, Ph.D.,
and a dedicated team of teachers and parents, including Cantor Neil,
Les Kraut, Pamela Ross, and Leigh Willens.

Visit the Edward F. Rudderman page to learn why our religious
school is named in his honor.

B'nei Mitzvah

Our cantor oversees the Temple B'nei Mitzvah program. Cantor Neil
works directly with students, and is closely aligned with their families,
the Religious School, the Ritual Committee, the Building Committee,
and many others, in an effort to ensure a fully-developed, high-quality ceremony.

Any questions about B'nei Mitzvah tutelage should be directed to
the Temple office to coordinate with Cantor Neil.

Adult Education

At Temple Emanu-El, adult education is offered throughout the year
and is available to all members.

Members have recently enjoyed an array of unique programs,
including a virtual seminar highlighting the Judaic Collection at the
North Carolina Museum of Art, and a livestream tour of Nachlaot,
Tel Aviv in Israel. The latter profiled many of Nachlaot's historical sites,
such as the House of Rabbi Aryeh Levin, The Spanish Orchard, and the
Fate Houses - the Yemen Neighborhood.

Additional programming has included instructor-led Introduction to
Hebrew classes, book clubs, and Torah Study.
